WONDERLAND is a handcrafted bespoke bridal studio based in Wellington, led by dress designer Kero Z. Backed by a dressmaking team with over three decades of experience in couture construction, the studio operates to exacting standards at every stage of creation. Since its establishment in June 2019, it has guided hundreds of brides each year from dream to dress.

Alteration
We specialise in precise wedding dress alterations, ensuring every gown fits flawlessly and reflects your unique style. Alterations for non-bridal garments — such as curtains, everyday clothing, or uniforms — are also available. Pricing starts from $10, depending on the complexity of the work.

Consultation & Fitting
Our appointment fee remained at $30 for six years. With consultations now typically lasting around 2.5 hours, the fee has been updated to $35 per hour. This allows us to offer unhurried, personalised fittings, thoughtfully tailored to each bride’s unique style and needs.

Rental
We offer a curated collection of 30+ wedding dresses for hire, with new designs introduced on a rolling basis. Sizes range from 0 to 16, with rentals starting at $30 per dress. Our aspiration is simple: every bride can sparkle on her wedding day in a dream gown without compromise.

The first step of your bridal journey is all about discovering what truly inspires you. It could be a gown you’ve admired for years, a dress you dreamed of as a child, or a design you spotted online or in another boutique that instantly captured your heart. Perhaps you’ve tried on several styles and noticed which cuts, fabrics, or silhouettes speak to you most. This stage is about shaping your personal vision and identifying the distinctive elements that make your dream dress uniquely yours. It’s about capturing the essence of what you love, laying a graceful foundation for your bespoke bridal journey.
First Fitting
If you are satisfied with our pricing and details, we would be delighted to warmly invite you to schedule a private, one-on-one fitting session with us. During this appointment, we will thoughtfully assess which styles best complement your body shape, personal taste, and overall aesthetic. For ready-to-wear selections, subtle refinements to design and fit can be made to bring the gown closer to your ideal vision. Should you wish to proceed with a custom gown, this fitting will serve as the starting point for the next stage of your bespoke bridal journey.
Fabrics & Design Consultation
This is where the creative collaboration truly begins, as we explore your dream dress in every detail. We will introduce the types of materials commonly used in wedding gowns, discuss colour options, examine the layering and textures of the dress, and carefully select fabrics for each component, including lace trims, pearls, beadwork, and other embellishments. During this appointment, precise measurements are taken and key considerations such as your wedding venue, theme colours, and overall event style are thoughtfully incorporated. This ensures your gown is exquisitely tailored to both you and your special day.
Preliminary Sketch & Material Preview
Brides may be provided with a hand-drawn sketch of their dress, depending on the complexity of the design. This complimentary sketch serves as a visual guide and concept reference, though it is not required for every order. Prior to acquiring materials, we will present the fabrics we plan to use. If the fabric is not available in Wonderland, we will provide samples or demonstrate how the material appears and behaves in a completed gown, ensuring you feel fully confident and delighted with every detail before construction begins.
Initial Fitting
This is the first appointment after your gown has reached approximately 90% completion. During this fitting, the bride will try on the dress to confirm its overall structure and silhouette, ensuring that every design detail aligns perfectly with the original design intent. Brides are entitled to one complimentary size adjustment. Additionally, minor refinements that enhance the original design—such as subtly lowering the neckline—are included at no extra cost. Should you wish to alter major design elements, such as sleeve length that differs from the original design intent or replacing lace patterns, additional fees will apply.
Final Adjustments & Delivery
After one or more fittings and any necessary modifications, the dream gown is fully completed to bring the bride’s vision to life. Typically, this process involves one to three fittings. Once the bride is completely satisfied, we professionally press and carefully package the dress, ready for the bride to pick up and wear for your special day.
Legacy & Second Transformation
Many brides choose to bring their gowns back to the studio after the wedding for a second transformation. Dresses can be elegantly redesigned into sophisticated everyday wear, converted into christening gowns for children, or preserved for future generations to wear. This not only extends the sentimental value of the gown but also ensures it remains a cherished part of the family’s story for years to come.
